Excellent food, excellent service! I grew up in Jersey and it is always difficult to find even decent Italian food. Well this place is GREAT! We had the Chicken Francaise. INCREDIBLE! Zeppole's truly delicious. If you are in Ft Myers and want authentic Italian Cuisine this is the place to come!

Wow, this place is great. The Sicilian calamari is quite delicious. Perfectly breaded and fried calamari with cherry peppers and a piccata-like mixture of ingredients make for a really excellent version of this dish. The pizza is really nice as well. I don't have anything negative to say about it. Good then crust that is not too flimsy or crunchy. Good sauce, quality ingredients. It is some of the better NY style pizza I have found in Florida so far (and I eat a lot of pizza). Thumbs way up!

Wow, they are simple amazing. Amazing Italian food. Better say that was the best we had in a long time. The service by Sarah was fantastic. One of a few places we went that the owner came to our table to greeting us. By the way the also are dog friendly. PRICE-QUALITY-SERVICE all great. For sure when we be back in Fort Myers we will be back to Citrola's.

We got pizza and calamari to go from here and they were nice enough to give us plates and utensils so we could eat it at the hotel--hooray!! While we were waiting this adorable old couple was admiring the kids, which I love. The pizza is really good, especially for outside of NY. It was sooo good it's my favorite pizza I've had in the whole state of FL! But what I loved most was the calamari. Get the calamari. Omg, I want it again, I would eat this everyday it was soooo good! Seriously, calamari time!!! Wish we lived here I would get it every weekend.

Good pizza. Very good pizza. The crust, the sauce, the cheese - all right on the money. Other items looked very good as well. Definitely on my list for visits to Ft.. Myers. Friendly staff too. The address I have is on McGregor. That's different from the heading on this listing. Somebody mentioned that it was expensive for pizza. Yes, a small cheese is currently $15. But their small is 14". Check your other places; some have a LARGE at 14", and it's more money.

We recently got pizza and garlic knots from here. Had the veggie pizza which was excellent. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the middle part of the pizza was a little soggy by the time we picked it up and came home to eat. Might be from all the toppings. The garlic knots are delicious. We'll definitely be back!

Awesome even though it's small they accommodated a big group (17) for a birthday celebration. We had a great time. The food was exceptional and Robin and the whole staff were wonderful. I absolutely recommend taking your friends and family for a great experience.

Love love love the garlic knots and pizza. My husband and I eat here regularly and take all of our out of town guests to Citrolas. I love that it is a local business and the owners are always around to say hello and check on everything. I almost hate to post a good review as I don't want it to get crowded. :)

Relocated to south McGregor this is our first visit here. First impressions include the restaurant and bathrooms are very clean. We were promptly seated, water glasses filled and our drink orders taken. Soon a lovely loaf of ItalIan bread arrived with soft, creamy butter. Our appetizer choice was fried mozzarella sticks. We got 7 crispy, gooey sticks and tasty marinara for dipping. Next the main course. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and Karen got the veal francaise. Mine came with a house salad. I chose the raspberry walnut dressing. The salad was cold and crisp. Our meals showed up.in a jiffy. The veal was well seasoned and tasted great and came on a bed of spaghetti with a lemon butter sauce. Quite good. The eggplant was thin sliced, breaded and fried in a spectacular tomato sauce and lots of yummy mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The portion so huge I could hardly finish it. But finish it I did because it was so good. A real nice dinner out for two for $48 plus tip and included a glass of wine.

Love the new restaurant on Mcgregor...wonderful pizza, and the mussels fra diavolo are marvelous. BUT... since everything is fresh and made to order, the salad dressing is a major flaw. I knew itnwas a bottled dressing (At home I make my own) and the waitress confirmed it. Please please makemyour own vinaigrette and your restaurant will be even more wonderful!

Very good, fresh cooked to order Italian. Sauce is tasty. Meatballs are homemade and very Yummy. Classy place to sit down, but I am more of a takeout person, and there is simply no better food that you can get carry out. Plus every entree I have had has been 2 meals worth, the reheated incarnation is just as good as the initial fresh meal.

Be careful if you order wine here. The waitress brought a bottle to our table that had already been opened and when we questioned it she denied it. When I explained this to the owner she did not believe me. Be careful!

This was the first time to Sanibel. I am from Orlando and I would recommend this place over any Italian I've ever had. It is very affordable. For 6 people it was under $200 with dessert and wine. We will definitely come back. Loved the Chicken Francaise!

We were in from Chicago for collegiate baseball and our condo happened to be nearby. This area is full of chain restaurants, so finding a gem like this, so close, was outstanding. I can only speak to the pizza (carry out) which was exceptional. Obviously, we returned for more. What was also interesting was how fast the pizza was ready for pickup. Each time it was pretty busy but our order was always hot and ready to go.

This is, without a doubt, the best pizza I've ever tasted! Any "reviewer" complaining about the service must not be from the Fort Myers area. Tourist season means long waits and when a place is THIS GOOD I'd wait (and have waited) as long as necessary. The service is OUTSTANDING!! We get the same two waitresses at either location (this one or the FMB pier location) and they always remember us and know exactly what we order every time. We start with the absolutely phenomenal Bruschetta and the crunchy garlic bread smothered in cheese which also comes with a cup of the best marinara (which we use the remnants of to dip our crust in). We get a large pizza with the oven roasted garlic, fresh Roma tomatoes and Italian sausage. I've had the best pizza in New York City and this pizza beats it by a long shot. The crust is perfection. It has that crisp and makes that sound when you fold it that is absolutely superb. This pizza has honestly ruined pizza for me as there is no other pizza around town that can come close to comparing.

We are snowbirds from the Chicago area. We found this place last year and IT IS THE BEST ITALIAN around -- especially the pizza. And, someone had accidentally put in an extra order of bruschetta for another table. The waitress turned around and gave it to us FREE. Super great place.

The BEST pizza hands down since I left New York. Eat it fresh out if the oven at the restaurant for an incredible experience! The pizza is so fantastic, I don't even want to try anything else but others that have gone here with me tell me EVERYTHING is delicious. Don't miss this dining treasure in SW Florida.

This has become our go to place. We have eaten the subs, pizza and the dinners and never been disappointed. So glad we discovered this place. The food is delicious and homemade. They have an extensive lunch and dinner menu. You can always order pizza. The bread is continuously brought to the table. Hot and homemade and absolutely delicious. The owners are friendly and so are all the staff. We are seated immediately and they always remember what we like. They brought us plenty of water and drinks. They are always there for any request. The portions are nice and the prices are reasonable. Our mushroom pizza had plenty of the topping and the cheese and homemade crust made for one of the best pizzas I have ever had. The shrimp scampi got high reviews and there were leftovers to take home. The stromboli was quite large and was enough to be shared. The cheesesteak sub was also a good choice and I had the veggie melt that was full of fresh portabella mushrooms, red pepper, broccoli, tomato and eggplant with provolone cheese. They are also very accommodating for substitutions and those on a special diet such as glutton free. All in all it was so much fun eating at this restaurant . You feel like you are a member of the family. Great food and wonderful service. Only bad thing is they are closed on Sunday when I usually crave a pizza! Hint: Get the $3 dessert of dough with sprinkled sugar on it and chocolate drizzled on the dish. You won't be disappointed. It is plenty for the whole table to share.

Really glad we gave this place a try. It wasn't really the sort of location you'd expect for good Italian food, but our party was pleased with everything we had. The waiter was not at all intrusive, but took good care of us. Reasonable prices and nice portions.

If you want New York pizza, this is the place. Very good dinners as well. White wine comes in nicely chilled glasses. I had a superb soup with my pizza.

What a find! Great service and great food in a cozy atmosphere. We had salads (one called meatball on roman and one goat cheese) and they were fantastic! The waitress suggested the wine and it too was delicious and a generous "pour." Most patrons were ordering the pizza and we overheard raves! Watch for their coupons in the mail (although you won't really need them - the prices are very reasonable) for an added bonus.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
